Welcome To The Hive

Thinking Bee is a video production company in Nashville, TN dedicated to the documentation of music, its stories, its artists, its history and its future.Founded by director/editor Bill Filipiak and producer Jo Hunt, Thinking Bee is quickly gaining a reputation for the cutting edge development and production of unscripted series, music videos, documentaries and web content used for the purposes of marketing through social mediums such as youtube, myspace and facebook. Just over a year into its inception, the company has already produced web series for artists Kaci Bolles, Savannah Jack, Jacob Lyda and Sherrie Austin. TB is currently in production on a new 12 episode unscripted series about the music industry and is also currently in post-production on an independent documentary film about the legendary pop group The Cowsills in conjunction with Executive Producer Louise Palanker. The film will premiere at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August. Several other unscripted series are also in development.In addition, principals Filipiak and Hunt continue to direct/produce and edit the television series Meet The Wilsons & The Wilsons Flip Out for RGK One Shot, High Five Entertainment and CMT Canada (Now 24 episodes strong). Apparently, we are also fond of Bees.

A native of Buffalo, NY, Bill Filipiak started his career in radio eventually becoming the Creative Director for Premiere Radio Networks in Los Angeles. He began moonlighting as a music editor for Saban Entertainment racking up credits on popular kids shows such as "Power Rangers," "VR Troopers" and "Digimon." (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1629378/)Bill left Los Angeles and returned east landing in Nashville, TN where he would continue working with Premiere and Saban through his own company until accepting a Creative Director position with Filmhouse and their AFRTS government contract.Bill would eventually take a similar role as CD for CJ Advertising where he was responsible for ensuring cohesive commuication between six departments (print, Web, broadcast production, PR, yellow pages & media) and a staff of 50. In 2008 Bill left cj and rolled back behind the camera editing shows such as "CMT's Top 100 Duets," "Real Pro Wrestling" and "Nashville Star." He eventually moved in house with High Five Entertainment as an editor on "Passtime" and "Drag Race High" for Speed TV. Bumble Bee
A bumblebee (or bumble bee) is any member of the bee genus Bombus, in the family Apidae. There are over 250 known species, existing primarily in the Northern Hemisphere although they are common in New Zealand and Tasmania.Bumblebees are social insects that are characterized by black and yellow body hairs, often in bands. However, some species have orange or red on their bodies, or may be entirely black. Another obvious (but not unique) characteristic is the soft nature of the hair (long, branched setae), called pile, that covers their entire body, making them appear and feel fuzzy. They are best distinguished from similarly large, fuzzy bees by the form of the female hind leg, which is modified to form a corbicula; a shiny concave surface that is bare, but surrounded by a fringe of hairs used to transport pollen (in similar bees, the hind leg is completely hairy, and pollen grains are wedged into the hairs for transport).Like their relatives the honey bees, bumblebees feed on nectar and gather pollen to feed their young.

An accomplished producer and development executive, Jo Hunt has a unique talent for working seamlessly between the worlds of television and music.During her tenure as talent executive at High Five Entertainment she cultivated an extensive talent roster for music specials, series and special event programming with artists that ranged from musical icons like James Taylor, Celine Dion and Bette Midler, country music's finest Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Allison Krauss and Faith Hill, to rock and pop superstars like Elvis Costello, John Fogerty, Willie Nelson and Whitney Houston.In 2002 her focus shifted to the development of televisions projects and as VP development at HFE, she placed a wide range of television specials (music, awards, documentary, holiday specials) on cable networks including PBS, VH-1, Oxygen, GAC and CMT Canada.The last two years she produced three (soon to be four) highly successful specials for renowned psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen, including "Change Your Brain, Change Your LIfe," "Magnificent Mind at Any Age," and "The Brain In Love." To date the specials have raised over 22 million dollars for public television. Honey Bee

Honey bees (or honeybees) are a subset of bees in the genus Apis, primarily distinguished by the production and storage of honey and the construction of perennial, colonial nests out of wax. Honey bees are the only extant members of the tribe Apini, all in the genus Apis. Currently, there are only seven recognized species of honey bee with a total of 44 subspecies (Engel, 1999) though historically, anywhere from six to eleven species have been recognized. Honey bees represent only a small fraction of the approximately 20,000 known species of bees. Some other types of related bees produce and store honey, but only members of the genus Apis are true honey bees.

McKinley Morganfield (April 4, 1913 - April 30, 1983), known as Muddy Waters, was an American blues musician, generally considered "the Father of Chicago blues". Following in his footsteps are his sons and blues musicians Big Bill Morganfield and Larry "Mud Morganfield" Williams. A major inspiration for the British blues explosion in the 1960s, Muddy was ranked #17 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.While he doesn't technically 'work' for Thinking Bee ... his music is always welcome to buzz around our hive.

Stephen joined Thinking Bee in Feburary of 2011 to help out with a new show and has quickly become a a lead editor and 1st camera on many shoots. And low and behold there's an amazing director hiding out beneath it all. Creative, inspired and a great storyteller with footage, Stephen above all is the kind of guy you just like hanging out with.Now if he'll just put down the damn Iced Frapoccinos.

Jo von Haeger

Joey's is a bio that will likely need to be updated on a weekly basis. All editing starts with Joey as he's the one who manages all new footage and preps it for editing. On top of that he's coming into his own as an outstanding shooter and continues to hone his skills as a writer, storyteller and editor to boot. Recently Joey took on leading the summer NewBees into the 48 HR film festival where the team took 1st place in their genre proving he has the leadership skills necessary to become an outstanding director.As with everyone within the colony, Joey's a good soul and helps keep the hive entertained.

Voice of the Beehive were formed in 1986 by the Californian sisters Tracey Belland (vocals/guitar) and Melissa Belland (vocals) with UK band members Martin Brett (bass guitar), Woody Woodgate (drums) and Mike Jones (guitar). The band's initial success came in the UK, U.S. and Australia. The band had five Top 40 singles from two albums in the UK.Their biggest commercial success came with the singles, "Don't Call Me Baby", "Monsters and Angels", "I Think I Love You", "I Walk The Earth" and "I Say Nothing" from their first two albums Let It Bee and Honey Lingers.

As a "NewBee" in Nashville, Wes joined the team in August 2011 with a strong drive for creative growth. With an innovative attitude and a keen eye for detail, he came equipped with the necessary skills to help add to the Thinking Bee agenda. In his first few months, Wes shot and directed a promo, served as the DP for TB's 48 hour film, and began work as an editor for a new TV series. side note: Wes is obsessed with LOST.
